I hope you had a better week, and were able to make repairs and clean up from last week's crazy winter storm. I’m dreaming of spring and warmer weather. I know some of you may hate me, but I'll take 100 degree weather any day.

Something I learned:
I’m doing some research on how to prevent PMS from sabotaging our health and fitness goals. I’ll be sharing that information soon. But, the top thing that I found to be so interesting was so many of us crave chocolate before or during our cycles because it’s high in magnesium! Magnesium is an essential mineral. A deficiency in magnesium can manifest in the form of intense sugar cravings, especially for chocolate. I know I shared last month about magnesium soaks and supplements, but I didn't make the connection to my own personal craving being reduced until I read that. I was incorporating more magnesium before and during my cycle to help with stress, which explains why all my cravings have been reduced tremendously. I have found a few more tips and strategies that may help you also. I’ll be sharing them soon.
Something I’m loving:
I’m loving the suggestion I received from a head trainer from FASTer Way, thank you Leah! We were discussing some different strategies for how to adjust my macros and she asked me about my stress level. As I’m explaining to her that I’m really laid back, it takes a lot to overwhelm me, she just kinda laughed and listed off the few things she knows about me. You are a mother of 4, in education, and you are a FASTer Way certified coach who is over 40; and she followed it up with “you may not think you are stressed, but you are, and your hot flashes are coming soon so you need some other strategies.” I just cracked up and loved everything about how she was direct and called me on my BS. I WAS SOLD! And the 1st thing she asked me to do was take 10 minutes 3 times a day and mediate, pray, or go for a walk, etc. Just some quiet time. I thought, simple, I got this. Well it’s been more like once or twice a day if I’m lucky. But I’m aware, it’s on my habit tracker and I’m gonna be better about it. When I get it in, it makes a big difference. You should try it this week!!

With the FASTer Way VIP community we are shifting out low carb days. So my menu looks a little different, but there are still 2 low carb ideas. (Monday and Friday)
Steak & Shrimp - Pick your steak of choice, grill it, cook it inside whatever suits you. Same with the shrimp, do you like it boiled, sautéed, do you like the panko shrimp (from Costco is the BEST!). You could include a baked potato or a sweet potato with your favorite vegetable to get those carbs in. Cook extra steak and shrimp for tomorrow's Low carb lunch.
Zucchini Boats-Italian Stuffed Zucchini Boats are the healthy weeknight meal you’ll want to make again and again. This is full of flavor and super easy.
Bacon Guacamole Chicken Bombs- Need healthy fats for the day, this is a great option. Use the thicker chicken breast and regular sliced bacon not thick. There are some additional tips in the reviews.
Meatloaf- I use oatmeal instead of crackers or bread crumbs
Garlic Paprika Chicken legs - these are baked, crispy, juicy and tender chicken drumsticks with a garlic and smoked paprika sauce. We will have mashed potatoes and green beans.
Egg Roll in a Bowl - If you are looking for that fried egg roll flavor, this isn’t it, but you do still get a great Chinese food flavor. I use ground beef instead of the ground chicken and soy sauce instead of tamari. This is a really quick meal.
Honey Garlic Pork chops -Boneless pork chops skillet with honey garlic sauce takes 15 mins to make. We are going to have rice and broccoli as our sides.
